When Fats Waller visited London in the late 1930s, he composed a piano suite inspired by the places he saw.
This week's program will open with these impressions, followed by highlights from the same portion of his brief but incredibly prolific recording career. His 1939 rendition of Vincent Youmans' "Hallelujah" is among my personal favorites.
